Spacer Company was proud to be a supplier to the Brisbane Airport Runway – one of the largest aviation construction projects undertaken in Australia, giving Brisbane the most efficient runway system in the country.
It goes to show Spacer Company can deliver on any sized project, from the smallest construction site to one of the biggest!
Work on the site began in 2012 with the major stages of construction completed in mid-2020. The runway was officially opened on Sunday 12 July 2020. At an investment of $1.1 billion, the project created jobs for over 2,700 people.
We designed and manufactured custom baffle spacers for the runway project. Having spacers manufactured at our factory in Brisbane cut the costs usually associated with overseas manufacture including shipping and potential delays at port.
A major project such as the Brisbane Airport Runway involved strict requirements. Spacer Company were able to meet (and exceed) all requirements as our products are tested to Australian Standards – no matter what size the job.
The new Brisbane Airport Runway is a key piece of infrastructure that will enable the continued growth of Brisbane, the region and Australia. It is estimated that by 2035 the new runway will lead to the creation of 7,800 new jobs and contribute an additional $5 billion in annual economic benefit to the region.
